As of September 21st, 2017 American Health Value will no longer be administering health savings accounts (HSA) and have transferred the administrative rights and duties to HealthEquity. As of today, we are no longer a point of contact for anyone who currently possesses an HSA, or for anyone looking to open an HSA.
Please see the information below for instructions relating either to existing account holders, or those looking to open an HSA:
Existing Account Holders
Nothing with your HSA has changed. You have the same checking/routing numbers, the same debit card, and the same online credentials necessary to access your account. Going forward, you simply need to direct all funding and inquiries to HealthEquity instead of our office.
You can visit the following links to access a PDF copy of the letters that were mailed to individual account holders and/or employer groups announcing this transition:
To access your HSA online: Click here
To contact HealthEquity directly: please call 877-694-3942 or email them at info@healthequity.com
Opening A New HSA
We are not able to open an HSA for you at this time. Please visit www.healthequity.com to open your health savings account.
A Sincere Thank You
After 20 years of HSA administration, American Health Value has made the difficult decision to exit the HSA marketplace. Each and every one of our clients have been at the center of what we have done for two decades and are the reason why our staff has been so honored to suit up and show up for you at work every single day. It is with our clients at heart, that we feel it is in their best interest to transition them over to our custodial banking partner HealthEquity and allow them to also take on the full role as your HSA administrator.
From everyone at American Health Value, it has truly been a pleasure serving the HSA needs for all of our clients over the last two decades and we sincerely thank all of you for the opportunity to work together.

Last week we had the opportunity to head down to Las Vegas, NV for the annual IHC Forum West Conference! This particular conference is 100% dedicated to consumer-driven healthcare, innovative health and benefits management, and tips and strategies for navigating today’s uncertain and ever-changing healthcare landscape.
We had the chance to sit down with so many amazing people from companies large and small, from all across the nation. Everyone had the same goals in mind: advance consumer-driven healthcare regardless of the political climate, and help to educate and implement it into the nation’s work force.
Attendees at IHCForum West ranged all over the board from national banks to massive employers like Target, to national hospitals, insurance carriers, and tech startups. We wanted to highlight one in particular, as an example of the forward-thinking individuals and companies we got the chance to network with during the event. Below is our National Marketing Director Rebecca Messreni with a man by the name of Aaron Burke, who founded OVO Health.

OVO Health is a tech startup that will shortly be launching in several major cities across the country. As they state on their website, “Why pay $50,000 for a knee replacement when the same quality of care costs $15,000 down the street?” OVO Health lets you type in your zip, pick your procedure, and see all the local (registered) doctors and their pricing. This is a brilliant way to create an open free-market system with cost transparency for the patients, while simultaneously creating a great marketing and branding opportunity for the local doctors’ offices to earn new (and recurring) business.

Brilliant idea, especially when it’s applied with consumer-driven health care & health savings accounts. People are spending their own money, and they want to shop around and be better consumers. This kind of thinking coupled with this kind of technology allows them to do just that, and very effectively!

Avoiding the eye doctor because it's too expensive? Believe me, you're not alone. The exam often runs a couple hundred bucks, not to mention the glasses and/or contacts you're going to need to buy. "Who has the money to pay for this stuff?" "It can wait awhile; my vision isn't getting any worse..."

Vision care is part of our Free Healthcare Discount Program, and printing off our discount card can save you as much as 50% off the cost of exams, glasses, contacts, & even surgical procedures like LASIK! You can get these discounts at over 11,000 national & regional eye care centers, like:

Yesterday afternoon we (finally!) launched all of our brand new Health Savings Account Forms at American Health Value, sitewide! There are hundreds of both new & updated forms for all sorts of different topics:
- New & Updated Educational Materials
- Basic to Advanced HSA Information, HSA FAQ's, Employer/Employee "How To" Walkthroughs, etc.
- New & Updated Marketing Materials
- Pieces like "HSA vs. Traditional PPO Plans", "The HSA Concept", "Why Use American Health Value", etc.

We took a look back and every single form, and not a one was left untouched. Some of these forms have just received a new, updated look. Others however, have been the subjects of a complete overhaul.
We've added improvements to everything from functionality, readability & ease-of-use to updated 2012/2013 HSA figures, up-to-the-minute HSA Legislation & online-fillable PDF forms that allow people to type in their information on the form and send it back electronically.
We've even gone so far as to put QR codes on all our forms that can be printed off & handed out to employees, employers & insurance agents. This will ensure that if you have a question on one of the forms or any of its content, you'll be able to interact with us immediately (via your smartphone) through our website, phone number and/or social media profiles to get your questions answered on the spot!
Below you'll find a nice graphic comparing one of our old forms to the same thing in the newer version, and a couple links to some new forms. We think it's a huge improvement, what do you guys think? Let us know in the comment section below!

American Health Value is proud to announce our partnership with the newly formed Healthcare Choice Coalition!
As a founding board member, our President and CEO Michael Berry has aligned our company and its values and services with a group full of business owners, agents/brokers, physicians and consumers that all share a common vision: protecting the freedom of citizens to choose their own health care, strengthening their relationship with their personal physician, and preserving the free market so consumer-driven health care can flourish and remain viable for the future.
What's Next?
The Healthcare Choice Coalition's first priority is educating private citizens and their elected representatives about the value of preserving their freedom to choose the health care practitioners, health care services, health insurance plans, health care accounts, and other health care goods and services that provide optimal benefit to them.
We're also committed to educating private citizens, their elected representatives, and regulatory agencies about the legislative and regulatory initiatives that restrict or expand citizens' freedom to make their own health care choices.
Get Involved!
Are you an agent or broker that believes consumer-driven health strategies are the best way to provide optimal value to your clients? Are you a business owner that wants to be able to keep your HSA or HRA benefit plan in the future? Are you one of millions of Americans that love your health savings account and want to see the program expand? The HCC is representing you and your freedoms.
Be an advocate and connect with the Healthcare Choice Coalition on Facebook & Linkedin, or click on the social media buttons below this post to share the cause with friends & family.
We're proud to have the opportunity to join the Healthcare Choice Coalition, and to support and strengthen their efforts to preserve and advance consumer-driven health care.

Last weekend many of our employees jumped at the opportunity to get together and volunteer at the annual Walk MS Run/Walk sponsored by the National MS Society.
The Walk MS Run/Walk takes place at numerous cities across the country each year and is the National MS Society's rallying point. It's a time and a place for everyone to stand together and be together - to help raise critical funds that support cutting-edge research, drive change through advocacy, facilitate professional education and provide programs and services to help people with MS move their lives forward.
"Wall of Hope" and "The Starting Gun"

Boise's Walk MS was a huge success, and all together the local teams were able to raise over $65,000 to help support the cause and fight this terrible disease. All of us from American Health Value had a wonderful time volunteering for the event, and definitely plan on participating again next year.
Take a look at some of the great photos our resident photographer Robin shot last weekend during the event below!

This week we're highlighting the "Pharmacy" section of our Free Healthcare Discount Program to try to help get the word out. It's a free program that will save people (insured or not) up to 65% off the cost of prescription drugs at thousands of pharmacies across the nation. But, what's the catch?
There isn't one. There are no fees, there's no club or newsletter to join, we don't even want your email address. Go to our website, print it off, and it's ready to go.
This program couldn't be more simple and straightforward. How simple, you ask? Here's the in's and out's:
- It's free
- You don't need to have an HSA with us to get it
- It can be used with or without any insurance policy
- It can save you up to 65% off the cost of prescriptions
- It's accepted at 1,000's of pharmacies across the nation
- Just print it off, it's pre-activated and ready to use
- Free pharmacy locator - Enter your zip and Rx to get real pricing at your local pharmacy
The only real question is, "Why wouldn't you use it?"

This free discount program was originally something we developed to give our HSA account holders an added benefit to alleviate the rising cost of health care in this country. However, after watching that cost balloon year after year, we saw the negative impact it was having on everyone, whether you had an insurance policy or not.
After laboring over contracts and red tape for 2 years, we were able to establish a program that would provide real, tangible benefit to anyone who possessed it - whether you had an HSA with us or not - whether you even had a current health insurance policy or not.
Take it for a test drive and see for yourself!
Visit the Pharmacy Discount Page on our website to both print the card and use the pharmacy locator to put in your zip code and prescription to see how much you can be saving at your local pharmacy.
We encourage anyone and everyone to take advantage of this free healthcare discount program and all the benefit it can provide. Use it yourself, share it with friends and family, or hand it out at churches and events. Put it in the hands of anyone that can use it.
On behalf of all of us at American Health Value, we hope this card helps and you are truly able to find some savings in today's rising health care costs.

Don't be alarmed...American Health Value just has a new logo!
We're officially announcing the new version of our logo, right here on our blog! Although our old one was near and dear to our hearts, we realized it was time for a change...
We had been using the same basic logo with minor tweaks here and there over the years, but we wanted to really bring our logo up to date with some significant changes - of course while staying true to where we've been and what our wonderful clients and agents are familiar with.
We contacted Neoreef, a local graphic design/web-development company, and gave them the existing versions of our logo and where we wanted to go with it. We told them we wanted to take it from the flat 2 dimensional logo we've had in the past and make it really stand out in a 3D kind of way. Add some shadows, update the font, and add a nice shiny finish. Wow, did they ever deliver!
Below are some images of our logo evolution over the years, and underneath is our new logo. What do you think? Do you like the new version? Jump over to our Facebook Page and let us know!
Here's our new version:
We hope you guys like it! Let us know what you think on Facebook or ! We look forward to hearing from everyone.

Last week we had the opportunity to attend the annual ICMG (Inter-Company Marketing Group) Conference which was held in beautiful Phoenix, AZ. ICMG has become one of our favorite annual events to attend because it is invite-only, is attended solely by Presidents and CEO's, and creates excellent opportunities to bring more value-added programs and benefits to our account holders.
American Health Value was the title sponsor for the annual ICMG golf tournament, and this year proceeds went to benefit The First Tee. The First Tee is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit initiative of the World Golf Foundation based in St. Augustine, FL. The First Tee's mission is to impact lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
You can learn more about The First Tee by visiting their website, or watching this great video below:
One of the highlights of the conference was attending the presentation of keynote speaker Bill Driscoll. William P. Driscoll is a Former US Navy TOPGUN Aviator and instructor.
He served as a member of the US Navy's first and only team of jet-missle Aces, shot down five enemy fighters in combat (Vietnam) and is one of the highest decorated living Naval Flight Officers of the past 50 years. His major awards include: The Navy Cross, two Silver Stars, the Purple Heart, ten Air Medals, and a nomination for the Medal of Honor.
If any of you ever get the chance to see this man speak, we highly recommend you attend! He does an incredible job of relating the principles that are required to be a Navy fighter pilot (discipline, focus, intensity, and commitment) to being successful in both your business and personal life. He is truly a gifted speaker that inspires you to strive for these canons in every facet of your life.
When it was all said and done, ICMG was a huge success! The sold-out golf tournament raised a significant sum to donate to The First Tee, and we made some great new business contacts. We look forward to working with these businesses in the future to offer our clients additional value-added services and benefits in conjunction with their health savings account.

All of us here at American Health Value are so excited to officially announce our partnership with My HSA Rewards this week! We've been working out the details for quite awhile and can finally offer this amazing new program to all our account holders, for free!
What is My HSA Rewards, you ask?
My HSA Rewards is a free cash rewards program designed to help individuals contribute more money into their HSAs via rebates from everyday purchases. American Health Value account holders may enroll in My HSA Rewards at no cost, and when they make everyday purchases through any of the 500 plus merchants in the program, a portion of their spending will be deposited back into their health savings account!
Think of it as a free and simple way to help you put more money into your HSA by buying things you're already buying! Anything you purchase at Best Buy, Macy's, Home Depot, Walmart, etc. gives you an instant cash back reward you can turn around and place in your HSA. There are hundreds of retailers to choose from, and the ability to basically fund your HSA for free by purchasing things you already purchase is a huge benefit.
If you want to get creative, there are also ways you can "double dip" with this program. For example, let's say you purchase a laptop through Best Buy. You buy it using your credit card that has its own rewards points or frequent flyer miles system, and you earn your credit card rewards like you would normally.
In addition, if you're also signed up with HSA Rewards you're going to get an instant cash reward back on the other end of the purchase that can be deposited in your HSA as well! Double dip. You get the rewards points from your credit card company, and the cash back reward from HSA Rewards that goes into your HSA where it will earn tax-free interest and can be withdrawn tax-free for medical expenses. It's a totally free program that is simple to use and basically pays you to shop!
You can check out all the retailers that are available in their online mall, and you can see the percentage of your total purchase you'll receive in the form of a cash back reward. Go check out all the stores, you'll be amazed how many of your favorites are currently offering cash back rewards to HSA Rewards members. Increase your HSA deposits, your health care dollars, and your retirement savings simply by shopping!
